In your case, this means the skis have an FA value of 90kg, which is reasonable for your weight. However, the second 3 digit block is actually useful: it's the ski's FA number, which is a measure of it's stiffness. There's no particularly relevant information there. The first block of numbers is the serial number of the ski. I'm a little hesitant to post this because "flex numbers" can be misleading and some customers can get very hung up on them, but in your case I think it's fair to be transparent. I assume it's something about the flex/camber of the skis, and I would like to figure out whether this is appropriate for a 6', ~160 lb intermediate skier interested in improving skate technique and perhaps doing some races eventually at a very low level. I believe I was sold medium flex skis, but would like to confirm given the above numbers. I've looked around but can't find out what these numbers mean. They're printed as 191s, then on the next line there are a bunch of numbers: "20510755217 090". The skis are printed with some numbers on the top of the ski between the toe and heel of the IFP plate. In their defense, they did cover return shipping on some boots that I exchanged for a different model given the binding inconvenience. Everyone makes mistakes and I know shops are slammed with new-to-Nordic customers right now, so I'll omit the shop's name for the time being. I am a bit skeptical now of the whole experience, so I want to try to figure out if the skis I was sent are even appropriate for me. It's been a little bit of a fiasco the skis were shipped with classic bindings initially, then the "replacement" bindings ended up being a single skate binding of the wrong brand in a box that should have contained the correct binding. I recently purchased some skate skis from an online retailer since there are no local nordic shops.
